While everyone was on summer vacation, we worked harder than ever to make our After School Program even more fun! From the month of July to August, we hosted about 10 kids on our campus per day. Most of the kids were regulars, but we were happy to see a few old faces come back to join us! Together we played participated in various fun activities; here is a look back on some of our favorites.

The Amazing Race. We first had our own Amazing Race earlier in the year. The kids formed teams and had to complete fun “missions” that would build teamwork skills. Since they had so much fun, we decided to do it again this past summer.

Skittles Game. In this game, we would ask questions from everyone in the room. By the end we had learned interesting things about each person.

Crafts with Carissa. Carissa Alexander came from Hillside Church to lead kids in making a fun yarn craft. We made decorative yarn wall art and wrapped wooden letters with yarn.

Kindness Matters. This is a segment of our After School Program when we do something nice for others. This past summer, we handed out water bottles and juice boxes to Food Center clients waiting for the doors to open. We also partnered with Hillside Community Church by filling boxes with school supplies for 1st graders at Townline Elementary School.

Family Dinner. Every once in a while, we invite the families of our kids to join us for a “family” dinner. We had 3 families come to our June Family Dinner, and we hope to host more in the future.
