Mentoring
Mentoring can play a vital role in addressing social and learning issues both at school and at home. Building the mentoring program in the middle schools will promote continuity and growth with students that are still influenced by a caring adult.
Tutoring
Some students need additional help with reading, while others need help preparing for college entrance exams. Subject specific assistance can be available for ages 8-18, coordinated with the current school curriculum and teacher. Positive reinforcement from tutors will provide encouragement for effort and success.
Parent Homework Club
Occasionally, conscientious parents need help understanding the homework requirements, communicating with a teacher, or understanding school programs and requirements. A routine program that targets the school related needs of moms and dads will be appreciated throughout the community and provide further benefit to their kids.
Family Life Enrichment
Many neighborhood families just need occasional help finding childcare, getting a ride, talking with a teenager, or making ends meet at the end of the month. Streams of Hope can be a link between the Townline community and many expert service providers in the West Michigan area. |
