Our Streams of Hope Nutritional Options for Wellness clients and other community members attended “Dining with Diabetes” class in our activity center. This was a four week, two hour long course instructed by Christi Demitz, MSW is the Extension Educator from Michigan State University. We had 12 class participants that were able to learn more about the best nutritional foods to prepare. They reviewed how to read the labels of every food product and how to cook with those products that have low sodium, low fat and low carbohydrates content. They were also given several great recipes along with food tasting of some of the recipes and they were able to take home the ingredients from our Food Pantry to cook the meal at home.
